X7eaven are the providers of the BTEC First Level 2 in Performing Arts in conjunction with Waltham Forest College. This qualification allows students to look into different areas of Performing Arts, leading to a whole range of professions and sectors and allows the exploration of creativity in many different ways.

BTEC First in Performing Arts is a practical, skill-based performance course. It is an ideal introduction to the two-year BTEC National in Performing Arts, and students who are successful on this course may have the opportunity to progress. The course is equivalent to four GCSE grades A*-C.

Course details: Students will study Performing Arts full-time, with an emphasis placed on developing their acting skills and an understanding of the Performing Arts industry. Throughout the course there are lots of opportunities to develop personal, learning and thinking skills.

How is it assessed? Tutors set assignments throughout the course for students to complete. These will take a variety of forms, from research, presentations, performances and evaluations to reports and posters. Students need to collect evidence of their skills and knowledge throughout the course. Most of the work is project-based, and all is internally assessed by the Performing Arts team.

Course duration: One year full-time.

What do I need to study this subject? You should have GCSE Drama, and be able to demonstrate an interest in theatre and performance. It is also important that you have a respectable level of functional skills, English, Maths and ICT.
